🌿 Imperial AMB: ceramic and block of compressed activated carbon
Each AMB element combines a microporous ceramic envelope with an internal block of compressed activated carbon and zeolite. The water successively passes through the ceramic then this block, while surface deposits can be removed during maintenance.
The reference point for choosing: AMB designates the compressed carbon block version. The GF version contains granulated charcoal. The difference in construction is accompanied by flow and capacity marks specific to each filter.
🚰 A simple to install fountain
The configuration includes a stainless steel faucet for serving filtered water. Its gravity operation allows you to install the fountain in the place that suits your daily life, without an electrical outlet or plumbing work.
Choose a stable surface, with the tap accessible and enough space above the lid to fill the tank.
💧 AMB: understanding progressive filtration
AMB filtration progresses gradually. After preparing the filters, the instructions give the following points of reference for a pair:
- Approximately 2 liters in 30 minutes.
- Approximately 4 liters in 2 hours in total.
- The last liters take more time and may require several additional hours.
These times are indicative and depend on water, filling and use. They do not correspond to a constant flow: after the first liters, the water level and the thrust on the filters decrease. This slowdown at the end of the tank is normal.
The good reflex: prepare the water in advance. If the flow rate remains low even with the upper tank full, check the deposits on the ceramic and clean it according to the instructions.
🛠️ First use: four steps
- 1. Prepare the parts. Wash your hands, clean and rinse the tanks and faucet. Check that the ceramic of both filters is intact.
- 2. Install the filters. Place the flat gasket against the base of each element, inside the upper tank. Pass the rod through the hole and screw the nut underneath by hand, without forcing. Close any unused openings with the appropriate caps.
- 3. Prepare the ceramic by gravity. Filter a first filling and throw away all the water collected. Leave the filters in place overnight without using the fountain. The next day, make a second fill and also discard the filtered water.
- 4. Start your use. The water from the next filling can be consumed. Before filling the top tank, make sure that the bottom reserve can accommodate the added volume.
Preparation without pressure: do not let water enter through the threaded rod of the filter. The ceramic elements are prepared according to their own instructions.
🧽 Maintenance and replacement of filters
Clean the surface if the flow rate remains low, even with the upper tank full. Remove the filters carefully and use a clean soft brush under cold water, without soap or detergent. Rinse, then reassemble the joints and nuts by hand.
After this surface cleaning, the instructions do not require redoing the two preparation fillings. Cleaning does not reset the usage time.
The capacity of 6,000 liters refers to the pair and varies depending on water and usage. Note the commissioning date: Monderma plans a replacement within 12 months maximum, sooner if an element is damaged or if the flow rate remains insufficient after cleaning.
☀️ Good daily actions
- Keep the reserve clean. The system instructions provide for cleaning the lower tank every 3 to 4 days. Remove the filters before cleaning the tanks with mild dishwashing liquid, then rinse thoroughly.
- Adjust each filling. A reserve that is already partially full must be able to accommodate all the water you add to the upper tank.
- Protect the elements. Use cold drinking water, avoid heat and protect the filters from freezing and temperatures below 4.5°C.
- After a prolonged absence, throw away the first filtered filling and follow the instructions in the instructions.

💡 And the minerals?
This filtration does not demineralize the water. A TDS tester measures dissolved substances; it does not allow the effectiveness of the filters to be evaluated. Its value may increase at start-up due to the mineral materials of the ceramic.

How to read the documents: the Envirotek report mentions NSF standards 42 and 53 and describes results for the sample tested. It does not present two series of results separately identified for GF and AMB. The manufacturer's NSF/ANSI 42 document, dated 2020, is also not sufficient to establish certification for each Monderma fountain thus equipped. Consult the exact scope of the parts before assigning a particular reduction to a model.
